The Caribbean Princess cruise ship passes beneath the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge on August 4, 2009. It had left the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal just before this video was taken. The cruise itinerary’s ports of call were West End, Bermuda; San Juan, Puerto Rico; Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas, USA Virgin Islands; and Grand Turk, Turks and Caicos Islands. The cruise was on Princess Cruises, and began and ended at Brooklyn Cruise Terminal in Brooklyn, NYC, NY. The Verrazano bridge is one of the world’s largest suspension bridges. The clearance beneath it has a maximum height of around 220 feet. The bridge crosses the Narrows in the New York Harbor between the boroughs of Brooklyn and Staten Island in New York City, and is part of Route I-278. The Narrows, which the bridge crosses divides the Upper and Lower New York Bay. I was thinking that the captain was going to blow the horn, but he did not. I have been on cruises before where the horn was indeed blown when sailing under bridges.
